I’ve had the privilege to work briefly on “The Casa Grandes” movie out on Netflix March 22, 2024! Directed by Miguel Puga, Art Directed by Miguel Gonzalez. I helped during the initial phase of finding the look for the main characters, costume design, along with incidentals! Each assignment, I made sure to reference accurate era and group to bring more authenticity to the characters. Below you’ll see explorations and thought process for various designs. Enjoy!
Oaxaca, Purepecha women references. Each had to be unique and authentic to the era for the film.
During my research, we had to make sure we were referencing the correct time period of history for the Purepecan women warriors of Oaxaca. We worked with a dedicated historian that provided guidance to accurately depict the right materials, props, textures, and other key aspects of the character.
